Java Runtime Environment 1.7.0.0

Java software allows you to run applications called "applets" that are written in the Java programming language. These applets allow you to have a much richer experience online than simply interacting with static HTML pages.

Java Plug-in technology, included as part of the Java 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (JRE), establishes a connection between popular browsers and the Java platform. Java allows applications to be downloaded over a network and run within a guarded sandbox. Security restrictions are easily imposed on the sandbox.

Many cross platform applications also require Java to operate properly.

Mozilla Firefox 6.02

Mozilla Firefox® is a free, open source, cross-platform, graphical web browser developed by the Mozilla Corporation and hundreds of volunteers. Beginning as a fork of the Navigator component of the Mozilla Application Suite, Mozilla Firefox® has since become the foundation's main development focus (along with the Thunderbird mail and news client), replacing the Mozilla Suite as the foundation's official main software release.

Mozilla Firefox® has attracted attention as an alternative to other browsers such as Microsoft Internet Explorer and Apple Safari, which are included as standard browsers with versions of Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X respectively. This is the main stumbling block for competing browsers as many novice users are still unaware of alternatives.

Mozilla Firefox® is one of the most widely regarded and admired web browsers available on the internet today. Over the past several years, it has been critically acclaimed by organizations such as Forbes.com, PC World, and CNet.

While Mozilla Firefox® 4.0.1 was released on April 28, 2011, and Mozilla Firefox® 5.0 web browser on June 21, 2011, they were both promptly followed up by Mozilla Firefox® 6.0.2 on September 6, 2011 by the Mozilla Corporation. This newest version of Firefox® fixes many bugs, improves standard compliance, and implements new web applications. Other new features include a redesigned download manager, a new places system for storing bookmarks and history, and separate themes for different operating systems.

As of March 2010, Firefox® is said to have 350 million users worldwide.
